Born in 1977 in Béthune, lives and works in
Lille.

His « maniac
world » is populated by those « Maniacs », characters who first seem funny
then worrying. They don’t stop smiling with a monstruous grin which seems particulary ambiguous because we don’t know if they
try to
captivate us or if they coax us into crunching us. If this parralel world seems
abounding
and colorful enterntain at first, it soon turns out sweltering and
suffocating.
Skwak tells us the story of this community in his canvases which remind us of aboriginal paintings in their brilliance, their visual intensity, and in the texture which is drawn by this multitude of elements and characters.
