MONSIEUR SIEGFRIED JEGARD EST UN MONSTRESiegfried JegardExhibition from June 5th to July 28th 2007
Opening on Saturday, 2nd
of June 2007 17:00 - 21:00 “I’m not a post pop conceptual neo-romantic folk trash artist, I’m a monster.” Reclaims the individual. The specialists haven’t examined his case, but since several years, many graphic protuberances have grown from his body and proliferated over the paper like a silent contamination. Would this be the result of a virus contracted during his childhood while visiting the museum of Evolution, of an overexposure of media, of a navel infection, of an indigestion with deconstructivist theories, of a paranormal experience, of an epileptic crisis after using the Play station, of an Aztec malediction, of a rhetoric misinterpretation in Pif Gadget Magazine, of an addiction to cinema, of an extraterrestrial encounter, of a musical electroshock, of an esoteric plot or even a voodoo spell… While he is drawing automatically, characters, hybrid creature, naïve monsters and other avatars combining themselves to their environment deploy themselves in a dreamlike setting of the instant, each shape seems to generate others endlessly, the lines interwoven and become muddled, sketching a mythological and inner world, between the imaginary of childhood and disenchantment of teenage. The line, guided by its intuition and sensibility, scatters its organic constructions and creatures in an ingenuous process freed from conscious references in order to develop a poetic form, similar to these ritornellos capable of provoking an affective echo inside us. Siegfried Jegard is exhibited for the first time in ADDICT Galerie, and ventures to propose to us the twists and turns of his universe. |
